Tempura Tenyoshi is located just steps away from Akihabara station, on the first floor a building.
The most famous menu of this popular restaurant is…
Hamidashi Ebi Ten-Don!!
It consists of a bowl of rice, topped with three large pieces of shrimp tempura, so big that the bowl can’t even contain them!
I am so excited to eat my favorite ten-don! ^_^
The restaurant has a kitchen in the middle, a counter around it, and a few tables.
As I walk in, the Taisho, or master chef, welcomes me warmly!
I like sitting by the counter so I can admire the Taisho’s technique.
Here is the dinner menu.
Other than ten-don, the restaurant offers tempura sets and courses.
For the tempura set, you can enjoy freshly made tempura with the delicious soy based dipping sauce. Don’t forget to add lots of grated daikon radish!
Last time I was here, I had the tempura set. I remember I really enjoyed the tasty and refreshing tempura.
I ordered the Hamidashi Ten-Don (\1,000) and waited at my seat, watching the TV in the room.
Many of the customers look like they stopped by after work. It was nice to see customers enjoying tempura and drinks in a lively atmosphere.
Right as the tempura is about to be taken out of the pot, the pickles and red dashi (fish and seaweed stock) miso soup is served.
The miso soup warms me up from the inside. It’s so delicious!
And here is my ten-don!
Woahhh!
That’s a lot of tempura.
Other than the three big shrimp pieces, the tempura include vegetables like eggplant, kabocha pumpkin and sweet pepper.
I bite in the tempura. It’ makes a nice crispy sound! The flavor of sesame oil spreads through my mouth. It’s soooo tasty!
The fresh kabocha tastes sweet.
The rice absorbs the ten-don sauce. These two make such a great combination!
The sauce is neither too sweet nor salty. The taste is perfectly balanced! Great job!
Yes, it’s a pretty substantial quantity, but I had no trouble finishing it. I never got tired of the deliciousness!
¥1,000 is extremely reasonable for this quality and quantity.
I highly recommend you stop by “Tenyoshi”, if you are in the Akihabara area and feel like tempura.
Thank you for the wonderful meal!
