Suzuran is just a few-minute walk from Shinjuku-sanchome Station. It’s a Niboshi (small boiled and dried fish for making stock) Ramen shop.
When it first opened, it was so popular and there were always queues outside. But now it’s less crowded so I stopped by for dinner.
Buy a meal ticket inside the store.
Wait a minute…
Niboshi Ramen is sold out!!
I came to eat Niboshi Ramen and it’s sold out…
But I’m hungry so I ordered Chuuka-soba (Chinese noodles).
The shop is very small. There are only counter-seats.
I wanted Niboshi Ramen so I didn’t expect much on Chuuka-soba.
5 minutes later…
It arrived!
Oh!?
It actually looks good!!
I took a sip of the soup.
Ohhhhh!
Is this really not Niboshi Ramen!?!!?
The soup is made from Niboshi so I don't think I could tell the difference!!
The noodle was yellow chewy noodle.
This noodle goes so well with the soup! It’s amazing!!
And grilled pork!
Thinly sliced pork was pink and it didn’t have the typical smell of the meat. It felt like I was eating ham!
It’s my favorite!
I was going to eat bamboo shoots… and WOW!
It’s THICK and LONG!!
For a second I thought they forgot to cut it…but no I looked around and everyone had thick and long bamboo shoots!
The bamboo shoots were good!
The Ramen here is pretty shocking.
It kept surprising me. But it was a good kind of surprise!
I am definitely coming here again for Chuuka-soba!
Chuuka-soba was good but I bet Niboshi Ramen has a richer taste!!
