You can find many small restaurants in the Shinjuku Sanchome area.
If you feel like you want to eat meat, but you’re tired of the regular yakiniku…
Then, I recommend this little restaurant: Jingisukan Sakaba Tomoya!
Here, you can taste the famous Matsuo Jingisukan of Sapporo.
Go up the stairs to the third floor. Such a tasteful interior!
As I enter the restaurant, I am thinking about the Jingisukan I once had in Sapporo…
The walls are covered with writings of the menu!
After some time staring at the walls, I make my order.
If you are not sure what to order, don’t hesitate to ask the friendly staff who will help you with the menu. They will explain how it all works as well as suggesting some dishes.
First, Shiokara (salted fish guts) to go with the Asahi beer. Cheers!
For meat, I order the odorless Jo-Lamb and strong Jo-Mutton to begin with.
The hotplate is here.
This dome shaped hotplate is one of the characteristics of Jingisukan
And here’s the meat!
I place the meat in the middle and spread the bean sprouts around it.
I grill the meat, remembering to turn it over once in a while. When the color of the surface changes, it’s ready to eat!
Now together with the bean sprouts, “Itadakimasu!”
Yes, this is it!
The Matsuo Jingisukan flavor is on the sweet side. The meat is soaked in a sauce with ingredients like ginger and apple. The sweet flavor takes away the strong lamb smell. That’s why it is the perfect Jingisukan for those who don’t like that particular smell.
It’s so delicious!! I can’t put down my chopsticks!
My friend and I finished both the lamb and mutton in no time.
To refresh the taste, we order cucumber.
The cucumber and miso combo.
It reminds me of my childhood. I remember this used to be a typical dish of the summer! So tasty!
Now that we feel fresh and clean, let’s continue with the meat. This time, the swirly Guruguru-sausage and pork chops.
Here is the Guruguru-sausage.
The sausage sure is “guruguru”.
We leave it to the staff to grill the sausage. The sizzling sound is exciting!
Just watching the sausage grill makes the beer taste better.
We cut the hot sausage with scissors.
Look at this succulent sausage. There is no way this can be anything other than delicious.
The plump sausage is so very meaty and so very juicy!!!
I really really recommend you order this.
And the pork chops are here.
Look how big they are!
As we grill the meat, the savory flavor fills the air.
Itadakimasu!!!
Such a soooft piece of rib meat!! The meat juice spreads through my mouth.
I completely forgot that I was already full and finished it right away.
It was such a great meal!
After you pay your bill at the table, you will be served a scoop of vanilla ice cream! What a pleasant surprise!
I highly recommend Tomoya, for its delicious meat and spirit of satisfying the customers!
