I was walking from Kudanshita towards Iidabashi when I discovered the ramen restaurant, Tenraiken.
It is located on the first floor of a fancy looking hotel. At first glance, it doesn’t look at all like a ramen restaurant.
Inside, there is a counter and several tables. The room is rectangular.
Let’s take a look at the lunch menu.
I decide on the Shoyu (soy base soup) Ramen Lunch Set.
The restaurant uses no chemical product in their noodles. So, don’t hesitate to bring small children!
With the pleasant smell approaching, I know my ramen is coming!
It comes with a side dish and a bowl of rice too!
The clear soup is beautiful. Hmmm, is it kombu seaweed and fish flake broth?
What ever it is, the “Japanese” dashi (broth) smell increases my appetite!
I take a sip of the soup.
Wow! Delicious!!
I would say, the flavor is closer to ochazuke (cooked rice soaked in soup and tea) than ramen. The soup is delicate but not light, and has a very rich taste. The umami flavor spreads through my mouth… It’s exquisite!
The noodles are the thin white kind. Yep, the perfect noodles for this kindo of soup!
Together with the negi leek toppings, it’s even tastier!!
The ajitama (marinated soft-boiled egg) is the perfect texture. The egg yoke is a gorgeous yellow!
The side dish is like the traditional breakfast menu: omelet, seasoned and chopped burdock root, salty-sweet marinated bonito and grated daikon radish.
When you finish the noodles, follow the restaurant’s tradition and pour the remaining soup on the rice!
The little accompaniments are lovely.
This dashi is perfect! I feel like it’s even better with rice than noodles!
My ramen suddenly transformed into an ochazuke
Sadly, I became too full before I finished the rice…
But I truly enjoyed the delicious lunch. Very satisfactory!
Thank you for the meal, I will be back!
