The restaurant is at Kudanshita, an area filled with business buildings.
As it’s a salary men district it’s actually full of good places to go for lunch.
There is one place in particular that I would like to recommend.
It’s called Torifuku.
Torifuku is known for their fancy dinner. Their Mizutaki (chicken stew) and charcoal grilled yakitori are excellent. But, I personally think that their lunch menu, Kiji-jyu (rice topped with roasted chicken) is what makes them special. It’s truly delicious!!
From the side of the entrance, you can see the yakitori being prepared. I feel a force dragging me into the restaurant…
The restaurant has two floors including the normal dining area with tables, the tatami style area and even private rooms. You can enjoy your meal in a relaxed atmosphere.
The first floor was already full, so I followed the handsome waiter up to the second floor.
I like the stylish wooden menu board!
The lunch menus are all Kiji-jyu. They come with salad and miso-soup, and are only \790! You can ask for a larger portion of rice for free, too!
Choose the sauce from Ra-yu (Chinese chili oil), Oroshi-ponzu (grated daikon and soy based sauce), Teriyaki-mayo and their special sauce, Tokusei-tare.
I went with Oroshi-ponzu sauce.
The salad arrived first.
I finished the small salad in no time.
I wait patiently for the Kiji-jyu for about fifteen minutes…
And it’s here!
Look how big it is!!
Big pieces of chunky chicken thigh meat are inside the black “jyu” (box).
And underneath the layer of chicken, sliced nori (seaweed) and oba leaf.
I put the grated daikon on the chicken, and “Itadakimasu”!
Delicious!!!! I was looking forward to this all morning!!!
The juicy chicken and the refreshing ponzu. A great combination!
The rice is cooked just right, too!
I can’t even put down my chopsticks.
The rice absorbs the sauce and meat juice. It’s flavorful till the last bite.
Of course, I finished the entire Kiji-jyu and didn’t leave over one grain of rice!
The wakame (sea weed) miso soup was also very tasty.
Thank you for the meal, “Gochiso-sama”!
Last time I was here, I got the Tokusei-tare of the restaurant, which was also very good, but the Oroshi-ponzu is just exquisite!
If you’re concerned about bad breath after the meal (I’m not saying it will give you bad breath!), don’t worry. They have mouthwashes in the rest rooms.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves chicken!!
