When I think of Japanese soul food, I can only think of rice.
One of the most popular Japanese fast food is Onigiri (rice balls).
I know you can buy delicious Onigiri in convenience stores in Japan but if you are around Ginza, please try Kinnome.
The Onigiri in the picture was today’s special. Sea urchin and cheese Onigiri and raw ham Onigiri.
You can find these unique Onigiri only in Kinnome.
You can enjoy delicious Onigiri made from Kinmemai, special rice made in a Rice shop. (http://www.toyo-rice.jp/shopping/about/index.html/)
Kinmemai is different from regular whit rice, it has a special “umami (tasty) layer”.
In comparison to white rice, Kinmemai is rich in Vitamin B1 and Vitamin E, dietary fiber, and oligosaccharide.
It contains a lot of natural nutrients. It’s good for your body!
It’s fast food, so you can do a takeout but you can also eat in the restaurant. If you have time, I definitely recommend you to eat in!
You’ll notice female staffs wearing Kappogi (a sleeved Japanese apron).
Come and taste Onigiri with Japanese casual home cuisine.
Of course don’t forget the miso soup! It was really good!
