I always come to Itasoba Kaoriya when I want to relax.

Itasoba Kaoriya is spacious, quiet, and serves good food!

I heard Jazz music in the background. The atmosphere is very calm.

There are a few table seats at the back but most of the time we share a table.

I recommend Kamo (duck) Soba but today I decided to try Otameshi Soba.

Otameshi Soba is served on a platter and it comes with two different dipping sauces. One is Soba Tsuyu (Soba soup) and the other one is Gomadare (sesame sauce).

You can choose from thin noodle or thick noodle.

I usually order chewy thick noodle.

While I wait, I ate fried buckwheat’s seed.

Instead of water, they serve Cold Soba Tea. It’s delicious!

When I was looking at other tables, I saw people coming by himself/herself.

People order side menus like Kamo-yaki and Japanese omelet with Japanese Sake.

Some start with snacks to go with the alcohol then finish off with Soba.

Finally my Soba arrived!

Which sauce should I start with…hmmmmm

I started with Soba Tsuyu.

Soba Tsuyu is so simple that it brings out the taste of the Soba.

I’m always impressed with the chewiness of the noodles here!

And Gomadare!
It becomes mellower!

I almost finished it without putting down my chopstick!

But wait a minute…

The chopstick rest is… a peanut!!!

It’s not my first time here but I never noticed!

Peanut as a chopstick rest?

How fancy!

At the end, I diluted the Soba Tsuyu with boiled juice of Soba.

I finished everything, even the dipping sauce.

During lunchtime, I heard there’s a Mazegohan service! Mazegohan is basically boiled rice mixed with meat and other ingredients. This is popular too!

I would like to come here during lunch next time.
