Conveyer Belt Sushi, Made with Love!

Take the west exit at Ebisu station and walk for a couple of minutes along the Komagawa River. You will find “Ganso Suhi”, the kaiten-zushi restaurant (sushi served on a conveyer belt) that I love!

1

The fresh fish are bought in the morning at Tsukiji Fish Market by the Itamae-san (chef), who carefully prepares each sushi.

In many kaiten-zushi restaurants these days, the sushi is made by a machine, and not an actual chef. But it’s incomparable to real sushi, made by skilled chefs, with love.

The cozy restaurant has just one counter.

2

It’s fun to watch the sushi go round and round in front of you

3

The pricing is reasonable. The sushi vary from \125 to \500 a plate.

The different colors of the plates indicate the price, so you can tell the price at first glance.

First, I would like to enjoy a cup of hot green tea. I make it myself with the tea powder on the counter.

4

I take some gari (seasoned ginger slices), and I’m all set for the sushi!

5

Hmmm, what should I have first? Oh, I see a bright color shrimp sushi pass in front of me!

Got it!!

I found out later that they were having a shrimp special today and the plate only cost \95!

6

Everyday, they have a different special offer!

The plump shrimp has a sweet flavor. Delicious!

7

Next, engawa.

8

The engawa is fatty and very soft. Don’t forget to season it with some wasabi!

I nibble on some gari, and reach out for the anago eel.

It looks so good with lots of sauce!

9

This one is very soft too. I think this sweet anago is definitely the kind of sushi kids would love.

The shari (rice part) is a relatively small, so I can keep going without getting full!

Next, I want to try something with nori. I like my nori fresh and crispy. I ask the itamae-san to make me a tsubugai scallop (whelk) with mayo.

“Coming right up!”
The friendly chef replies cheerfully.

The crunchy texture of tsubugai with the creamy mayo is irresistible. I order it every time I come here. I love it that much!

10

Yup, as delicious as always!

As my last sushi, I order tekka-maki (maki with maguro).

11

The red maguro of the tekka-maki is juicy but light. It is a perfect match with the sharp flavor wasabi. The nori wrapped around brings everything together.

If you want extra wasabi, look for the wasabi plate that also goes around the conveyer belt!

12

To finish the meal, I order Kani (crab) soup. The hot soup warms my body from the inside. It’s such a soothing sensation.

13

The meal was very satisfying. The bill came to less than \1,000!

Thank you so much for the delicious lunch!
