Satake, is a soba restaurant, especially popular among salary men. It is situated along the Koshu Kaido, only five minutes from the South Exit of Shinjuku station.
Some customers even come here for breakfast, as they open at 8:00 am.
There are only counter seats in the restaurant.
The restaurant has a very similar atmosphere as the Soba Hiyamugi Sagatani in Shibuya. Could it be a sister shop? Hmm, the menu is somewhat different though.
It is more spacious than the Shibuya branch. You can relax and enjoy your meal.
To order, you go to the ticket vending machine and purchase the ticket of the dish of your choice. I decided to go with hiyamugi (chilled noodles) and oinari-san (sushi rice wrapped in deep fried thin tofu).
You can see the staff preparing the food from the counter.
Only three minutes later, the food is ready!
The shiny hiyamugi looks so delicious!
Can you believe that this dish only costs 290 yen?!
The noodles are dipped in the sauce and go smoothly into my mouth.
Wow!!! Nice and firm!
The noodles that were put in ice water right after being cooked are chewy and go down the throat perfectly. The quality is unbelievable for such a low price.
I could taste the wheat flour in the noodles. I’m absolutely satisfied!
And the oinari-san I ordered with it has a well-balanced taste too. The hard rice and salty-sweet tofu wrap go perfectly well together. Yummy!
At the place in Shibuya I went to before, the set menu consisted of soba and aji (horse mackerel) rice. Here, they have not aji, but tune rice!
The tuna rice is apparently a big hit at the restaurant.
You can also get a glass of draft beer for 150 yen. 600 yen will be plenty for a decent meal.
Satake is definitely a supporter of low budget salary men!
Both taste and price were amazing.
Thank you, I will be back!
