HAMASOBA

Different from usual ramen, it doesn’t have any soup and has yakitori(grilled chicken), bamboo shoots, leeks and some potherb mustard.I was expecting it to be spicy but it was rather sweet, so I put a little more chili oil.

A sign ‘油’ is the guide

It has a so narrow frontage that people who don’t know the restaurant would pass through without stopping. It’s near the Yujima intersection and you can see a signboard in front of the door. This has a letter ‘油’ and it will help you to find the restaurant.

You will find a ticket machine on the right side after coming in.

I pushed the button which says ‘Hama soba(regular)’, then gave it to the waiter.

It seems like just one person runs this restaurant.

A small restaurant that has only counter seats

It has only 6 counter seats. You can imagine how small it is.

Thinking that only one person runs it, this might be the utmost.

On the wall, there is a paper that tells you how much vinegar and chili oil to put in the Abura soba. It’s useful.

If you look back, you will see a tea jug, tissue and wet wipes. Even if it’s a small restaurant, this shows its consideration.

Healthy Abura soba with an unexpected taste

I was bubbling with expectations while I was waiting. Then came the Abura soba.

Different from usual ramen, it doesn’t have any soup and has yakitori(grilled chicken), bamboo shoots, leeks and some potherb mustard.

Immediately I put some vinegar and chili oil!

Then, mix all the ingredients with the sauce, again and again.

The more you mix them, the more it gets the color of the sauce.

The first mouthful.

I was expecting it to be spicy but it was rather sweet, so I put a little more chili oil. Then it became spicy enough for me and far better. The noodle used here is thick and al dente. All of this is my taste!

‘Abura soba contains two-thirds of the calorie in ramen, and also the half of the salt in it.’

This is what the poster in the restaurant says. After eating Abura soba, it’s very tasty that I could believe this.

According to it, this is because Abura soba doesn’t have soup that it can cut down its salt.

Furthermore, it contains a lot of linoleic acid, oleic acid and vitamin E that help you reduce cholesterol.

It seems bad for our health when it comes to oil, but this Abura soba sounds like there is no problem to eat a lot.
