There are many ways to reach Tokyo Character Street. It is located at the basement of Yaesu North exit. If you can find the “Tokyo Character Street” sign, just aim for “Yaesu North exit”.
“Tokyo Character Street”, located in Tokyo Station Ichibangai, is home to 26 different “character shops”.
Use the map if you have a particular shop in mind.
Today, I am going to guide you through the shops where you can buy goods of all the popular Japanese characters.
First, there is “Rilakkuma”. This adorable teddy bear is popular among people of all ages. Rilakkuma became so popular in Taiwan that there is a “Rilakkuma Café” where you can snuggle up and relax with Rilakkuma.
“Pokémon Store” offers selected items from the official Pokémon shop “Pokémon Center”. There are even some Christmas theme goods!
Next is, the “Nameko” character official shop, made famous by the smartphone app “Touch Detective Mushroom Garden”. This Tokyo branch is the first one!
Here is many girls’ favorite, “Hello Kitty”. This would have been paradise for me as a little girl!
If you are a Ghibli fan, you can’t miss this one!
There are all sorts of items from handkerchiefs to stuffed animals, and all sorts of everyday goods. I can’t make up my mind!
The shop has a really nice “Ghibli” atmosphere.
The long-standing popular program “Shoten” or weather forecast character “Sorajiro” are a few of the themes you can find here. There are all sorts of fun goods and snacks for people of all generations.
The TV Asahi shop has goods from programs like “Doraemon”, “Crayon Shin-chan”, “Ametalk!”, “London Hearts” and many more.
The TBS shop has original goods from programs like “BooBo”, as well as items with popular drama themes.
You can also check out new programs or popular dramas inside the shop.
“Miffy Style” is a collaboration project of Kiddy Land and Dick Bruna Japan.
Authorized by Bruna, the official shop will let Miffy take you through Dick Bruna’s world.
Finland-born “Moomin” is a very popular character in Japan. The store offers a selection of artifacts and everyday goods that pay homage to the children’s book’s story with the adorable characters. The concept of the shop is to provide customers with a “Moomin-like lifestyle”.
Tokyo Character Street has many interesting character items. They would definitely make charming gifts!
While it may seem like the shops target children, they can actually be really fun for adults to visit as well. I recommend Tokyo Character Street to people of all ages.
