Soshgaya Onsen 21 houses five different types of baths, along with three different types of saunas.
Apart from the standard bath, you can enjoy white-water bath, onsen, “silky” bath, and water bath. As for the sauna, there are high temperature sauna, low temperature mist sauna, and “freezing” sauna. (High temperature sauna requires additional fee.)
Out of all the onsens in Tokyo, a facility that houses this many types of saunas are quite rare!
Within the bathhouse, there is a “mini-pool”, which is about ten meters in length, and about one meter deep.
It is quite a small pool, but it is not a recreational pool. It was put in place for under-water exercises, which is said to have great effects on the muscles and the body!
Right next to the mini-pool is a jacuzzi!
Depending on the day, the water used alternates between “concentrated water” and carbonated water. “Concentrated water” is essentially condensed hot spring water, so you can expect great effects for the skin from this mineral-rich water. As for the carbonated water, which is soft water with carbon dioxide gas inserted into it, it has an effect of boosting your blood circulation.
The “concentrated water” is especially popular among the Japanese people, so it is definitely worth trying out!
There is also “aqua massage” available for a separate fee, which is said to be effective on that belly fat you’ve possibly gained from splurging on delicious food and sweets during your trip in Tokyo ;)
Well, regardless of belly fat, it is relaxing either way, so why not give it a try?
