Sakana Kokoro, an old “Izakaya”, is located in Kasai station on Tozai line.
If you want to taste fish in Kasai,
I would definitely recommend you this place.
This restaurant is the perfect place for the one who wants to enjoy precious time with tasty food.
This nice Izakaya is loved by local sake lovers for many years.
Today, I will introduce you such a wonderful restaurant,
“Sakana Kokoro”.
When you walk 2 mins aside railroad from Kasai station, you will see Sakana Kokoro’s signboard. You can find the entrance in second floor.
You are not allowed to go inside with your shoes on.
Take your shoes off when you enter.
They have some counter seats and some table seats. This compact space is filled almost all the time. Seats are usually taken if you arrive late.
This time, we were placed in two-seated table.
We started with bottle beers.
You have two choices of bottle beers; Kirin and Sapporo.
This time, I decided to enjoy Sapporo beer.
Soybeans and deep-fried Pilchard were served for appetizer.
Both seasoning and boiling of soybeans are perfect!
Soybeans’ taste can change depend on boiling timing.
Since they make perfect soybeans, I can expect good foods as well.
I ordered few dished to eat with drinks.
First came the grilled smoked salmon.
Taste little bit like dried salted salmon,
but this one is softer and easy to chew.
Broil with clay stove until fat get surface.
And it’s ready to eat!
This dish goes very good with Sake.
This Izakaya prepared several kinds of selected Sake.
You can tell staff your preference and they will bring a perfect one for you.
Next dish was grilled Sanma(saury) slice.
Sanma in season get thick fat and melt in your mouth.
Put some ginger and eat lightly.
This is also a good point of Sakana Kokoro that you can enjoy dishes in season.
You would forget time time because of the wonderful dishes and your lively conversation goes on until midnight.
I also enjoyed miso tasted codfish and shirako tempura which were served last time.
Recommended dishes change depends on the seasons and you can enjoy Sake each time.
They don’t serve Sake with amount of 2cup. (1cup=0.18ml)
So order 1cup or 1.5cups.
Last came the pork loin charcoal grilling.
Meat is soft and cut into small pieces so that it is easy to eat.
The amount is large enough and seasoning is also good.
It maybe takes little time to serve because Sakana Kokoro’s dished are made politely.
Thus, you can enjoy drinking slowly and deeply.
Warm atmosphere, good staffs and service, at last but not least, great dishes and Sake!
Such a nice Izakaya where you would want to go every week!
