Katsu-jii is a Tonkatsu restaurant, popular among students.
Katsu-jii is located right in front of Waseda Station.

Go to the second floor.

Right in front of the entrance, there is a ticket vending machine.
Purchase a meal ticket before entering.
If you don’t know what to choose, the staff will come out and tell you the recommended ones.
I ordered the Otoku-set that comes with two kinds of fried menus.
You can choose from Fillet pork cutlet, Pork loin cutlet, Hamu-katsu (ham), Menchi-katsu (minced meat), and Ebi-katsu (shrimp).
I chose Fillet pork cutlet and Ebi-katsu.
The restaurant makes you feel as though you’re in a relaxing café.
When I went during dinnertime, it was crowded with students!

I always like to linger in a relaxing café-like atmosphere like Katsu-jii.
When I was looking around, the cutlet-set arrived!

Mountain full of cabbage, Ebi-katsu, Fillet pork cutlet --- two of each.

So many sauces to choose from!

Aojiso jelly, special miso sauce, spicy sauce and so on…
It’s good to experiment!
I chose Aojiso jelly to go with Ebi-katsu and tonkatsu sauce with fillet pork cutlet!
Both of them were SOOOOOO delicious!

Fillet pork cutlet is not that thick but VERY soft!
Considering the price, it’s very reasonable!
There is konbu-no-tsukudani (sliced kelp boiled and sweetened in soy sauce) at each table.

Try it with rice!

I remember when I was a child, I used to eat rice just with konbu-no-tsukudani, nothing else. I could eat it forever.
AND of course, I sipped the miso soup to finish off my meal today.
Gochisousama-deshita!
