You can enjoy the taste of Kyoto in downtown Tokyo

It is located on the 6th floor of Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi.

Gion Tsujiri is a popular Ujicha and Matcha (green tea) Sweets shop.

I came here at 15:00 on a weekday so it wasn't crowded but there are always long queues on weekends!

I love the green color of Matcha.

Gion Tsujiri was founded in 1860. I hope this Japanese tradition will continue to remain in the future.

Matcha is popular among the health-conscious people in the United States and in Europe.

I hope that Matcha will have good physical as well as mental effects in the body.

Matcha squash, fuwwa-cha, there are so many menus to choose from! It took me a while to choose…

There are sample displays to make it easier for foreign tourists to understand.

Everything is numbered so there’s no need to order by the name.

As might be expected, Tokyo Skytree is a tourist spot so there was a plastic spoon set, limited to Solamachi.

Ta-dah! I ended up choosing No. 2 Tsujiri Tree Soft Matcha.

and of course this menu is limited to Solamachi.

Inside the star-shaped waffle bowl there’s Matcha ice cream, red bean, Shiratama (rice flour dumplings) and green tea sweets.

It comes with Solamachi-shaped spoon.

Enjoying the Sweets with the View

In Solamachi, all the seats are facing the window so that you can relax.

The red umbrella gives a sense of Kyoto ambience.

I sat by the window and enjoyed the view while eating the sweets.

Unfortunately it was raining, eating Matcha sweets while listening to Jazz music was just wonderful!

Surprised and Satisfied with the Quantity

I couldn't stop staring at it! After some staring time, I had some Matcha ice cream!

The Matcha is so rich and I could taste the delicious soft cream made from the long-established Ujicha.

It was so special eating with the Skytree spoon.

Red bean is not too sweet, it was the right sweetness. I ate the red bean in one beat!

If you eat the Matcha sweet with Matcha ice cream, you can get an extra rich taste of matcha.

Pix-16

Shiratama becomes softer with Matcha ice cream!

The view from the shop was amazing. I could relax by just looking outside. I can stay here forever.

While I was immersed in this relaxing mood, the star-shaped waffle started to break down.

At least the ice cream didn’t spill!

Waffle was soaked in Matcha ice cream.

It has more than it looks. It will definitely satisfy your stomach.

Foreign Tourists Enjoying the Kyoto Mood

Although Kyoto is known to the No. 1 tourist spot in Japan, you can enjoy the Kyoto mood while eating Matcha sweets at Gion Tsujiri in Tokyo.

I heard the foreign tourists in the back talking about how good these Matcha sweets are! I eavesdropped them saying that that they will visit Kyoto next time they come to Japan.

There’s also another Gion Tsujiri shop in Shiodome, but I recommend Solamachi branch because it’s more spacious and relaxing.

Enjoying the sweets while looking at the nice view, it was the best experience I’ve had!
