In recent years, Halloween has become a mega-popular event in Tokyo, especially among young adults. Today, I am going to guide you through some of the hottest events. Make sure to mark down the dates on your calendar!
Let’s begin with nightclubs for the over 20 year-olds. All of the major clubs of Tokyo will hold some sort of Halloween party, usually on a Friday or Saturday.
Halloween party at Sound Museum Vision (above) and Womb (below). Both clubs are located in Shibuya.
Other than Shibuya, the major nightlife area is the foreigner favorite Roppongi, with fancier clubs like Feria and Esprit Tokyo. Popular clubs tend to fill up quickly, so reserve a spot on line to be safe. And most importantly, don’t forget your ID!

If you don’t feel like going out, or doing anything special, I recommend just strolling down the streets of central Tokyo. Shibuya and Roppongi will be filled with hundreds and thousands of people in costumes, parading around the streets!
A city filled with zombies, bowling pin, and creepy-looking schoolgirls… It’s quite a sight!
If you want to stand out in this crowd, make sure to wear your funkiest costume. Don’t have one? Not to worry! The huge discount store Don Quixote is probably the best place to get a reasonable costume. The Shibuya branch, of course, has a huge selection of costumes, both for Halloween and cosplay.
And finally, some important advice for the non-enthusiasts of Halloween/crowds/party people. Just be sure to avoid Shibuya and Roppongi on Halloween night. Once you get caught in the crowd, there’s no easy way out…
Happy Halloween to all! ^_^
