The perfect place to get souvenirs!

After you shop on the first floor, go up the stairs to the second floor, which is the restaurant.

The interior is pretty modern looking and stylish. You can sit at a table or eat by the counter.

6

There is even a socket to charge your phone if you choose to sit by the counter. Very helpful!

You might want to stay forever in the relaxing atmosphere of the restaurant, but unfortunately, the rule is that you will have to give up your seat after an hour, if it gets crowded…

After you find a table, go order at the counter.

I decided to get the Oyaki set this time. Oyaki is sort of like a Japanese style bread with filling inside. It is commonly eaten in the countryside, often as snacks. I personally love it!

Other than the usual Nozawana (green leaf) filling, Nomono Kitchen offers Kabocha pumpkin and Negimiso (leek and miso) fillings as well. The \690 Oyaki set includes two Oyaki and one drink of your choice.

I chose Nozawana and Negi-miso for my Oyaki.

After ten minutes of waiting… it’s ready!

Up close, it looks like this.

The freshly baked Oyaki have sooo much filling!!

Nozawana Oyaki is not only my personal favorite, but also the most standard and popular flavor. I definitely recommend Nozawana!

The Oyaki here are relatively big. And have more filling than usual too!

For the Negimiso, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, as it was my first time to try it. Ummm, the distinct flavor of negi and salty miso go really well together. Delicious!

Besides Oyaki, the restaurant offers a variety of menus such as Japanese curry, Donburi (rice with meat topping etc.), pancakes and even alcoholic beverages. Great place to lunch, dine, or snack if you only want something casual!

Even though Oyaki is a typical Japanese food, it seems that it’s still quite rare that you find it in Japanese restaurants outside of the country. If ever you are in Akihabara and feel like trying something new yet authentic, you should stop by Nomono Kitchen!
