Hi!The summer comes nearly to the end.. But Azabu-juban festival blows autumn away!
This festival was hold on 22 and 23 August in Azabu-juban shopping area.
Over 300 "Demise", notable delicious food booths from all over Japan, attraction booths, kids space area, and performance stage got together in one place!
Let me report this awesome festival in Azabu-juban.
Festival itself started 3pm, but the streets were already packed with people, waiting for delicious food!
Azabu-juban festival is one of the biggest food festival event in Tokyo.
Importantly, over 50 country regions set up their food booths, from Hokkaido to Kyushu, for this event. You cannot get full till tasting their gorgeous meal.
It is so rare to have such event that there are over 400,000 people coming each year!
This festival kicks off from the hand-made traditional food stand by well-trained food masters.
There are long-loved traditional sweets such as ice cone, cotton candy, traditional sponge cakes, apricot candy, and candy arts.
What visitors long for is, specialty foods from various area of Japan.
Seafood area gets very crowded every year. Tuna tail steak, grilled prawns, grilled abalone, and grilled buttered squid are the must-buy special food at the festival.
I used to go summer festival in my home country, but Azabu-juban festival was 100 times bigger than what I used to!
So, it was overwhelming for me to see wonderful, high quality cuisines.
Most of the food booths cooks right there, in front of you.
The sound of people calling customers, smell of sizzling of the meat in a huge pan, and hotness of summer all came to me.
This event is the best to feel Japanese summer!
This is my favorite Mango Ice cone!
Mango from Okinawa, island in south, were as sweet as candy, and the coldness of ice cone heals you from the heat.
Each food were from ¥300 to ¥500 in average.
But there were some expensive ones such as high class beef sirloin steak, tuna tale, and whole watermelon juice too.
Should never forget the tradition.
Of course, there were Apple candy, cotton candy, grilled saury, and Takoyaki(Octopus ball) too.
I wish I had a huge stomach and had fortune to spend!haha
If that is able to happen, 300 delicious food would be in my stomach now!
One more thing I need to note here.
This festival is for all, children to adults, male to female, and Japanese to non-Japanese people!
A lot of food booths had signs in multi languages. and some of the booths were run by an embassy of different countries.
Azabu-juban festival definitely will linger into your memory in Japan.
It is held in the end of August every year.
So, don't miss it next year♡ Tons of delicious foods are waiting for your visit!
